Zera (Unknown Paths) is the trace of a performance produced in April 2016, during which Mircea Cantor drew a brain using dynamite fuses, before setting them on fire, thus revealing a negative depiction of the initial form. ‘Zera’ which means ‘seed’ in Hebrew, is thus at the origin of all creations: a heated brain wiping out the past and memories, as though going back to a primordial inspiration.
Mircea Cantor defines himself as a borderless artist, and is interested above all in human flaws and dysfunctions, which he shows up by using a minimal, poetic and metaphysical practice. He pays particular attention to motifs, the appearance of forms, their temporality and the strength of their retinal persistence.
