Le Tarmac

The 03/02/2017
The Tarmac is a new space in Palais de Tokyo whose architectural and scenographic conception has been entrusted to the students of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
Conceived as a three-dimensional magazine, offering contents which are reinvented for each season, the Tarmac allows visitors to recharge their batteries, while extending their discovery of Palais de Tokyo’s ongoing shows, by consulting different documents, or watching filmed interviews with the artists, etc.
The Tarmac is also a runway allowing visitors to extend their experiences towards artistic news which transcends the context of Palais de Tokyo. In particular, it highlights the programmes of a network of art centres (through a filmed conversation with the curator of an ongoing exhibition in the region) and the most emergent creation (thanks to the programming of short films made by students at fine-art schools).
At the Tarmac, an Instagram residency has been initiated. Hosted on the account @palaisinstaresidency, it is open on invitation to emergent artists, for a period of 2 weeks.
As a genuine echo chamber of new events on the emergent scene in France and abroad, the Tarmac also hosts encounters and other spontaneous events.
The architectural and scenographic conception of the Tarmac was entrusted to the students of ENSAD, Paris, as part of a partnership.
A project conceived by Nele Buhler, Clotilde Delahousse,  Juliette Le Goff, Rosanna Lefeuvre, Anne Perier, Floriane Roue, Sophia Taillet and Laura Thavenot, students, under the supervision of Florence Doleac, Véronique Massenet and Catherine Strasser, teachers at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs.
