Galerie Utopia / The Forgotten Bar Project : The Garden Of Eden

By Tjorg Douglas Beer
From 27/09/2012 to 18/11/2012
GALERIE UTOPIA consists of a set of projects and exhibitions developing and traveling all over the world, from New York to Athens by way of London before stopping at the Palais de Tokyo from Sept 28, 2012 to Nov 19, 2012
“The disappearance of utopia leads to a static state of things in which man himself is no longer any more than a thing.”1 THE GARDEN OF EDEN project is nurtured by thinking centered on utopia, the possibility of a different original, poetic reality, and understands creation as an existential and reactive tool. Like the ideal cities imagined by Plato, St Augustine or Thomas More, THE GARDEN OF EDEN, located in the entrails of the Palais de Tokyo, presents an ideal space, an area where actions are initiated in order to think about progress, suggest other worlds and put forward different models of thought and action. A space for a self-creating utopia, this project oscillates between skepticism and destruction, hope and aspirations, presenting a hypothetical contemporary Garden of Eden.
THE GARDEN OF EDEN is a project combining a permanent exhibition and a program of temporary exhibitions and occasional events, such as performances, concerts, projections and lectures. The GALERIE UTOPIA, created in 2008, is a module organized by a group of artists, curators and other players interested in questions of access, investment and intervention.
