Hoël Duret

(1988 – France)

Hoël Duret lives and works between Nantes and Paris. He likes to toy with the history of modernism, reinventing it with irony and extreme precision. In both I can do anything badly (2013), which he dedicates to the history of DIY, and his video opera in three acts – La Vie héroïque de B.S. [The Heroic Life of B.S.] (2013-2015) – he uses the medium of storytelling to question our relationship with everyday objects. After graduating from the Nantes school of fine arts in 2011, he exhibited in Marfa (Texas, USA) in the same year, at the Mulhouse Biennale 012 and the Belleville (Paris) Biennale in 2012, the FRAC des Pays de la Loire (Carquefou) in 2013, Castillo/Corrales (Paris), the Mosquito Coast Factory (Campbon), Martos Gallery (Los Angeles, USA), the YIA Art Fair (Paris) and at the Zoo Galerie (Nantes) in 2014 and in the Park Life Gallery (San Francisco, USA) and the Mulhouse Fine Arts Museum in 2015.
